In 2014, there were 754 children in foster care in Washington County, Oregon. There were 2,037 children in care in Multnomah County. Embrace Oregon is a unique partnership between churches and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) to care for our state's most vulnerable children. Whether it is assembling "welcome boxes" for children awaiting foster care placement or donating time or small appreciations to our local DHS offices, at Orenco we are called to love and support these children and the adults who care for them.

Orenco Elementary School is located just a few blocks away from Orenco Church. Working with Principal Lisa Aguilar, we hope to encourage those who work at and attend Orenco Elementary through Saturday clean-up projects, staff appreciation times, and by meeting the needs of families as they arise.
We are proud of our local relationship with Saving Grace Maternity Home, here in Orenco. Saving Grace just opened their doors in their new home, which will allow them to serve four young women at a time who are homeless and experiencing unplanned or crisis pregnancies. These women receive training and education, assistance with job placement and finding housing, and other forms of life-giving help. At Orenco Church we are committed to our support of those at Saving Grace, as well as its directors, Skip and Cindy Sorum.
